this is awesome!!!
i'm so pumped that flickr has integrated a video system to their popular photo sharing site.
it's so great because i already have an account that i maintain regularly so i don't have to worry about another account, another user name, and another password.
it's actually perfect timing, because i'm just getting into video and seeing what i'm capable of.
(only downfall videos can not exceed 90sec.)
flickr's response:
"90 seconds? While
this might seem like an arbitrary limit, we thought long and hard about
how video would complement the flickrverse. If you’ve memorized the Community Guidelines,
you know that Flickr is all about sharing photos that you yourself have
taken. Video will be no different and so what quickly bubbled up was
the idea of “long photos,” of capturing slices of life to share."
i just finished presenting a small seminar on blogging at the public library. it was a great chance for me to share what i know about blogs. i brought some 'new' information to the group - told about flickr, twitter, VOX, and rss feeds - something the group hadn't heard of before.
I had this picture in the ppt. it let me explain the 'history of blogging' using this hilarious cat example. [funny thing is-i twittered this earlier]
my job totally rocks - i get to talk tech and get paid for it!! [student connections]
the presentation made me want to come home and blog...go figure ?!
also, i'm thinking when i get some more time, i'll look into WordPress [for now, i'll stick to VOX]
::selections from ppt::
- defining blogs [web.log]
- history of blogging: in 1998, Jorn Barger coined the term 'weblog'
- blogging vs. journalism: will blogs replace traditional media?
- different types of blogs: personal, travel, general interest, news & politics, thoughts & opinions, business, picture, research
- user-hosted vs. developer hosted
- features
- flickr -> blog apps
- promoting blogs (blogsearch)

while browsing photos tagged w/ 'beagle' i came across this rather great photographer El Buen Matador. he has shots that have a unique look to them...i don't know the proper word to describe it; old fashioned? vintage? used?
i started a new set in my flickr collections called 'the learning process' i will add photos that require some sense of photography knowledge. this will help my 'take more pictures' new years resolution.
a first attempt:
